Lightsabre

In a new composition, import a picture or still from starwars (i’ve used qui gon). Add a new white solid layer and make it invisible. Using the pen tool, draw over the sabre and this should make the white mask over the image. Keyframe the layer at 0 seconds and at around 8-10 seconds, change the shape so the top 2 points are moved outwards to create a type of cone shape

copy and paste this layer but this time, change the feather settings. copy and paste these 2 layers until it becomes bright white.

Delete the picture of qui gon and make a new black layer to replace it. Make a new composition and drag the image back onto it. Drag the composition with the white sabre on top of the image and go to Effects >> colour correction >> colour balance to add colour to the sabre.
